BA 777 taking off 27R Heathrow

Terminals:
There are currently 4 terminals; T2, T3, T4 and T5.
Terminal 1 closed in 2015 and is not currently in use.
Terminals 2 and 3, together with the Central Bus Station and train links, are in the central area. This is not accessible on foot from outside the airport.
Terminal 4 is on the south side of the airport with Elizabeth Line and underground links to the Central Area. Buses also run around the perimeter of the airport.
Terminal 5 is located on the western side of the airport and comprises 3 separate terminals; the main terminal 5A and satellite terminals 5B and 5C linked by driverless train. Terminal 5 is the home of British Airways who also operate a small number of flights from Terminal 3. For an overview map see - Beyond the Airport Interactive Hotels Map.

Airport Hotels:

The majority of hotels serving Heathrow are located on the main A4 road, running along the north side of the airport and known as “the strip”. A couple are in the central area and a small number are situated on the south side and generally a little harder to access, unless flying from T4.

Getting from the airport to your hotel:

TIP: We recommend following the example of Heathrow based aircrew and using local buses (see article on Heathrow buses and trains) for airport to hotel transfers. Private bus operators such as Hotel Hoppa, charge a lot more and the journey is frequently longer.

Local buses cost £1.75 for multiple journeys up to one hour which is more than sufficient to get to any of the hotels here.

Tip:
Use contactless for buses and trains, but note that you can only pay for one person with a mobile device or card. So Apple Pay for one person and a contactless card for another.
TFL payment for payment options.

TIP: We recommend booking hotels directly through their own websites rather than through an online travel agency (OTA) website. If you join the relevant hotel chain loyalty programme you may get points and will typically receive better service. Also look for our exclusive links to give you member discounted rates and free add-on benefits.
