Beyond the Airport

Privacy policy

What we collect, why and what you can do about it.

Last updated 12 July 2026.

This policy explains how Beyond the Airport handles personal data when you use this website. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run an independent travel guide.

Who we are

Beyond the Airport is operated by 1550 Digital (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in the Principality of Andorra. 1550 Digital is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. You can reach us at [email protected] with any privacy question or to exercise your rights.

The data we collect

  • Information you give us. If you email us or send a message through the site, we receive your email address, your name if you provide it and the content of your message. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and our security provider record technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and the site you arrived from. Some of this is set through cookies, described in our Cookies policy.
  • Booking-link clicks. We keep an aggregate count of how often our booking links are used, per day, to understand demand. This counter does not store your IP address and does not identify you.

We do not ask you to enter payment card details, passport numbers or identity documents on this site. Bookings are completed on the hotel or booking partner’s own website. We do not knowingly collect data from children and we do not collect special category data such as health or religious information.

Why we use it and our legal basis

Under Andorran data protection law (Qualified Law 29/2021 on the protection of personal data) we rely on the following legal bases:

  • To answer your enquiries, on the basis of our legitimate interests and, where relevant, taking steps at your request.
  • To send our newsletter, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To run, secure and maintain the site, on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a safe, working website.
  • To measure how the site is used through privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that do not identify you, on the basis of our legitimate interests.
  • To meet legal obligations where the law requires it.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal data. We share limited data with service providers who help us run the site and with partners when you choose to use their services:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its server logs.
  • Cloudflare, Inc., which delivers and protects the site and processes technical data for security and performance.
  • Booking partners such as Stay22, Booking.com and individual hotel websites. When you click a booking or “check rates” link you leave our site. The partner’s own privacy policy then applies.
  • YouTube (Google), when a page contains an embedded video. We use the privacy-enhanced player where possible.
  • Map tiles from OpenStreetMap, loaded when a page shows a map.

Our public rate finder queries a third-party search service (SerpApi) from our server to fetch publicly listed prices. We do not send it your personal data.

International transfers

Our operator is based in the Principality of Andorra, which the European Union recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection. Some providers, such as Cloudflare and Google, are based in the United States. Where data is transferred to them, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry emails for as long as needed to deal with your message and a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Technical server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. Analytics data is held in aggregated form.

Your rights

Under Andorran data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time limits the law sets.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Andorran Data Protection Agency (APDA) at apda.ad, or to the data protection authority in your country of residence.
