How to use the Heathrow local bus network

Local red buses are the cheapest and easiest way of getting between hotels and the terminals. See which bus to use and live times.

Change buses as often as you like within an hour of touching in. TfL calls it the Hopper fare.

All day£5.25

The daily cap. Every bus after that is free for the rest of the capped day.

NoteA separate means of contactless payment is required for each passenger. One card cannot tap two people through. Use a different card or device for each traveller.

Put your hand out to signal the driver to stop. Buses will not pull in unless you do.
Press the bell before your stop to get off.
Elizabeth line, Piccadilly line and Heathrow Express are free between terminals. You still have to tap in and out.
Use the same card or device all day. Pay with your phone in the morning and a card in the evening and neither the cap nor the Hopper fare will apply.
The capped day runs 04:30 to 04:29, not midnight to midnight. A bus before 04:30 counts against the previous day.

Hotel HoppaThis private company run buses in loops from terminals, so you can end up going via several other hotels, often in the opposite direction before heading to your hotel or terminal. For most trips a local bus does the same journey a lot faster and for only £1.75 compared to £7. If you have a lot of luggage or people in your group, we’d suggest considering an Uber.

Uber pick up

At Terminal 5 the Uber pick-up point is a two minute walk from arrivals, walk outside to the external lifts (not the ones inside the terminal) and go to level 1 of the terminal car park.
